“First date with a monk?”
“Yes.”
They walk along the shore.
“I never know how my dates will react,” he says, wiping sand off a seashell.
“You’ve done this before?”
“Sure. Buddhist monks have girlfriends.”
He wiggles his toes in the water and his saffron robe blows in the breeze.
